Conceptual and methodical framework behind ISSUE

ISSUE is an association of international research groups on higher education throughout Europe. The association promotes empirical research on higher education study situations. The main assessment instrument is the Student Survey QUISS.

The concept of the survey explains the intentions and aims of ISSUE, the empirical instrument, the questionnaire, and the sample of investigations (representative or quota).

The theoretical frame of the research consists of a general theory about universities and academics, but also about middle range theories (e.g. integration, rules and standards, qualification, professionalism, coping, and pressure/strains etc.)

In order to understand and utilize QUISS, the dimensions are presented for every question. The items are explained in their function as indicators. This information about dimensions and indicators is helpful to select interesting questions and items.
