Nicolas Binder

Nicolas Binder did his doctorate at the Department of Politics and Public Administration on the topic of populism in Western democracies. He was specifically investigating the connection between the economy and populism. As part of his doctorate, Binder was receiving a doctoral scholarship from the University of Konstanz in accordance with the Landesgraduiertenförderungsgesetz (LGFG). In July 2024 he successfully defended his dissertation with the title ‘The importance of economic protection for the support of populism in Europe’.

Nicolas Binders research interests concern the interfaces between politics, economics and sociology. The focus of his doctorate is on populism research. Quantitative methods are another focus, so Nicolas Binders research is strongly empirical.
